Instagram lets you take photos and videos with your iOS device, apply a few special effects and share them with family friends on its own social network - or via other social networks.

What can you do with Instagram?

You take your pictures, add a customized filter, and post it to Instagram’s community or through Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare or Tumblr. Through the Instagram app, you can give “likes” and give or receive comments on your pictures.

Instagram has a Facebook-style feed, in which you can view all the photos uploaded by yourself and the people who you follow on Instagram.

The best thing about Instagram are the filters included in the program. There are 27 to choose from (recently added are Lark, Reyes and Juno) with different color, brightness and lighthing effects. If chosen wisely, you can obtain really awesome results. Each of these filters can now be customized using the photo editor (see What's New) which is incredibly intuitive.

Instagram also includes support for videos, allowing you to capture up-to 15 seconds of footage to share via the Instagram network. As with photos, you can choose from a range of effects to apply to your videos to get them looking great.

Instagram includes a photo and video messaging feature called Instagram Direct. It allows you to capture images and video then share them with Instagram friends. You can send messages via Instagram Direct to up-to 15 of your contacts at once. There is also an incredibly intuitive photo editor. It allows you to refine photos by adjusting aspects such as the sharpness, warmth, and brightness. You can also adjust the strength of the filters. For example, to change the 1977 filter, simply double-tap on it which will bring up a panel to adjust the photos.

The service is very easy to use, and if you have many friends on Instagram it could be a more practical alternative to sending multimedia messages via other services like WhatsApp or Snapchat.

Instagram has a People tab in Explore to allow users to find interesting people to follow. You can also edit captions and change your locations, as well as search faster with typeahead search.

Is Instagram complicated?

The Instagram app is very easy to navigate. There are icons at the bottom of the interface which represent the different features of Instagram: the photo feed, photo/user search, photo capture, news feed (recent activity on the network from you and those you follow), and profile settings. When viewing pictures on your profile you can choose to display as a list or as a series of tiles for easy navigation.

The presentation of the photos themselves in the photo feed is very clear, and likes and comments are shown underneath each picture. You can like or comment on a photo with a single click of an icon. However, it's a shame you can't open images full screen (i.e. you can only ever see them within the feed).

Applying filters and retouching your photos in Instagram is very simple. You can snap an image through the app or choose one from your phone then view live previews of what each effect will look like.

Get yourself on Instagram

The Instagram app makes it easy to apply fun effects to your photos and share them with your friends. Although it requires you to sign-up to share images, the possibilities of what you can do with your pictures are vast.

Dungeon Hunter 5 1.1.0f

$

Experience the life of a bounty hunter, hired out for the most dangerous jobs. Then experience repetitive gameplay and very strategically placed microtransactions after the tutorial.

Dungeon Hunter 5 is an average RPG when you're sitting at home but if you don't have a data connection, you can't play.

Mission-based dungeon crawling

Dungeon Hunter 5 uses the same mission styles as many casual games. You are limited to following a linear story as the leader of a bounty hunter group and missions range from assassinations to rescuing important people. There's "variety" in that there are different missions, but they all play the same way.

You can pick up dropped weapons, armor, and money which can be used to upgrade your equipment. You can't actually buy anything so you're stuck to finding it while playing. At the end of each level, you earn different equipment cards. Weapons and armor have different elemental properties like fire and water that can be beneficial during specific missions. Dungeon Hunter 5 suggests what element will work best before starting a quest.

Equipment features two upgrade schemes: Fusion, where you break down unequipped weapons and armor and fuse them to increase its stats and Evolution for direct weapon upgrades, but these require really rare items.

Movement in Dungeon Hunter 5 uses a free-floating directional pad and combat controls are a set of on-screen buttons. The basic attack uses your equipped weapon, but you also have access to spells and defense magic if you have the right equipment.

Combat is repetitive. You wander around the level fighting lower level minions before getting to a level boss. When you defeat a boss, you open a chest which contains equipment cards and XP. There's not any real strategy involved when fighting, even with different weapon classes, because everything feels overly simplified.

You can hire another player to join you in missions adding a helping hand for stronger enemies, but the AI is pretty bad. They basically act as damage sponges for stronger enemies until they die.

Dungeon Hunter 5 also has in-app purchases for gems. Gems are used to open random chests in the home world, upgrade your character's inventory slots, and refill different stats.

There's no item or equipment store in Dungeon Hunter 5 so you have to pick up everything while playing. One really annoying gameplay element is that you have to buy health potions with gems. Since gems are the premium currency, this means you may get stuck in a loop of not being able to complete missions because you need health potions but don't want to spend actual money.

The highest level of RPG-lite

On the surface, Dungeon Hunter 5 appears like a vast and epic game. The voice acting is pretty good and it creates a world that feels lived in. The problem is that gameplay is boring. Regardless of being a ranged or melee type of character, there aren't many combat actions to complete. It's more interesting to play a melee character because ranged characters stay back from combat.

The camera is also problematic. Dungeon Hunter 5 uses a fixed camera angle that follows as you move through the level. The problem is that enemies can spawn from off the screen and attack without you being able to see them.

It's also apparent that during the early tutorial levels, Dungeon Hunter 5 makes the game easy. Even at level one, you can quickly defeat enemies. But by mission five, enemies are stronger than you and come in large groups. The control scheme doesn't make it easy to escape and getting surrounded happens a lot.

Since Dungeon Hunter 5 requires gems to buy health potions (aside from the free ones given to you at the beginning), it is forcing you to buy gems to grind certain levels. Even though Dungeon Hunter 5 gives you four gems at the end of each level, health potions cost seven gems. This means you have to complete two levels to use one health potion.

Dungeon Hunter 5 also requires an active data connection to play so if you're not on Wi-Fi or using an smartphone, you can't play. Having an offline mode would make the game much more enjoyable than waiting for the game to load between every single menu.

The game scales to different devices but if you have an older device like an iPad 2 you're going to have laggy and average graphics. The best graphics will only be available on the newest devices.

Gameplay to make money

Dungeon Hunter 5 could have be a great game. It's designed for short gameplay sessions but like most mobile games that use pushy microtransactions, you can only make it so far before you're forced to pay.

The game features interesting mechanics like Fusion and Evolution, but the lack of a store to spend all the gold you earn makes gold useless. Combat is solid, even if very repetitive but Dungeon Hunter 5's lack of strategy will leave RPG fans disappointed.

The biggest problem with Dungeon Hunter 5 is that it requires a data connection to do anything. It forces you to play the game in very specific circumstances and the interface isn't made for phones.

If you played previous Dungeon Hunter games, then you will likely enjoy this sequel. Newcomers should look elsewhere for a real RPG experience.

Power Clean (Booster & Cleaner) 2.5.1

$
0
0

Ever get the feeling your Android phone or tablet is running much slower than it should do? Install Power Clean and you can make your device run quicker in a flash.

Take out the trash

Power Clean is an Android optimizer and memory cleaning utility that makes it easy to rid your phone or tablet of unneeded files, freeing up previous space and boosting device RAM to make things run more smoothly.

Power Clean looks and behaves very much like the industry leading Android optimizer, Clean Master. The interface is heavily inspired by Clean Master, and much of its functionality is the same. The difference is that Power Clean is much lighter. The app's footprint is under 2MB and scans are fast, making it a lean tool for giving your device a quick shot in the arm.

So what does Power Clean do? Its main features include a junk cleaner, memory booster, app manager, and a device info utility.

The junk cleaner looks at all your cached application files, obsolete APKS, and residual junk files, highlighting which files can be cleaned without having a damaging effect on the use of your device. There's also a handy privacy scanner, which highlights private data stored on your device and gives you the option to clean it.

The privacy tool includes a permissions section, which provides an at-a-glance view of which apps are requesting certain permissions (access to call logs, contacts, recording, location, etc.). You have the option to quickly uninstall any of these apps if you choose to.

You've got the power

The memory boost option within Power Clean provides a very quick and easy way to free up RAM. With a single tap you can view running apps and the RAM they are consuming. Then, a tap on the ‘Boost’ button will free up this memory, improving performance as a result. Within the memory boost section there’s an autostarts manager, where you can prevent certain apps from auto-starting. This is a handy tool for ensuring that your device always loads up smoothly.

Power Clean has a simple app manager that lists all of your installed Android apps. You can perform batch uninstallations of apps just by checking which apps you don’t need any more then hitting the Uninstall button. Apps can be filtered by frequency so you can see which ones you use the least. You can list and disable pre-installed apps too, to reduce memory consumption even further.

The device info section of Power Clean displays information and diagnostics about your phone or tablet clearly in one place. Much of the info is available anyway through your Android settings menu, but Power Clean presents things much clearer. As well as general information about your device’s specs, you can check on battery energy levels, battery cooler status, and which hardware features you have installed.

You can set up notifications in Power Clean to alert you when memory is being overused or when your Android device starts overheating.

The Power Clean interface is attractive and easy to use, with large buttons for each of the main options of the program, and big, bold progress bars that make scanning and optimizing very satisfying.

Fast and effective

There’s not much to fault with the Power Clean app itself, although it could go further in terms of its features. Unlike optimization rivals such as AMC Security, there’s no antivirus, anti-theft or backup tools within Power Clean. It would also benefit from a widget that would allow you to perform scans and optimizations without opening the app (something that Clean Master has).

The trade-off for its shortfall in features is that Power Clean is able to deliver fast results within a streamlined and lightweight interface. It does its job simply and effectively

Road Riot for Tango 2.3.3 and up

$
0
0

In an apparent homage to the 1980s arcade game Spy Hunter, Road Riot for Tango is all about shooting your way through traffic while dodging a few (figurative and literal) bullets along the way to glory.

Sneaky in-app purchases

The aim of Road Riot for Tango is to drive through a course and blow up as many cars as you can while avoiding the obstacles and collecting coins. You can then use these coins to upgrade various bits of your car. There are also some missions for you to complete.

Road Riot for Tango gets a bit monotonous after a while as you rarely move up a level, instead you merely try and score more points to upgrade your car and overtake opponents. The only changes are cars that are more difficult to make explode and the occasional booster.

If you use the Tango messenger app, you can connect with your friends and play the game with them. It seems like Tango is going down the same path as LINE, by connecting a load of other apps into its main messenger service. Next up will be the Tango camera or sticker app.

There are in-app purchases, which seems to be a given with these games, but Road Riot for Tango is even sneakier. "Oh look you've won a prize, choose what it is."

"Excellent," you think.

Unfortunately you are greeted by messages such as "Now you must buy some gems to collect this prize" or "Sorry, you have to upgrade the game to do that," .

Perfect: a prize that I have to pay (with real money!) for.

You can also chose to watch videos to gain rewards but, annoyingly, you don't seem to be able to close them once they've opened.

As easy as pie

Gameplay is really easy in Road Riot for Tango and that's coming from someone who struggles to get that far in racing games. Hold your finger down to fire and move it from left to right to go left and right.

You can change the controls in Road Riot for Tango to adjust the sensitivity. Your car can be nice and speedy, nipping across the course, or slower and sluggish. You can change these controls if you want to make the game more difficult/easier.

More stages needed

The graphics are solid but not memorable. There are only about three or four different stages and these are rudimentary; they're just different colors with slightly different textured terrain. Things get a bit more interesting when you get a booster, such as a force field or extra fire power, as the explosions are quite colorful if not massively spectacular.

The music is always the same in Road Riot for Tango - a sort of ominous, horror movie vibe, but it's a lot less annoying than many games. After a while, you'll lose track of it and it becomes ambient noise.

Great for casual gamers

Road Riot for Tango is a great game for casual users who want something that is really quick to pick up and not too complicated. For true racing game fans, it doesn't offer enough to keep their attention for long. More and better stages, different gameplay aspects and a real variety of levels and difficulties are needed if Road Riot for Tango is to keep its place on your phone or tablet and not face the dreaded uninstall command. But, for my level of racing game skill, Road Riot for Tango was perfect!

The YouTube Android app offers a comfortable way to watch and enjoy clips from the popular online video repository.

What does the YouTube app do?

This official YouTube app makes it easy to watch videos on your phone. The user interface is intelligently designed to offer all the great features of YouTube without sacrificing screen space.

You can comfortably view YouTube videos in portrait mode while checking out info, related videos and comments at the same time. You can access extra sharing options directly while watching the video.

Rotate your phone to landscape mode and YouTube will automatically resize the movie to full screen; and remove the rest of the page elements. The player controls are kept perfectly simple. In fact, all you need to do is touch the screen to pause and slide your finger along the timeline to fast forward and rewind.

Navigating videos is also intuitive, with a great many features available to help you find what you are looking for. The playlist option allows you to create custom feeds, a dedicated music homepage surfaces music videos based on your history, and YouTube mix will create a custom playlist for you based on your favorite tracks. Any movies purchased via Google are available in a separate tab.

Upload video to YouTube

The YouTube app for Android makes it very easy for you to quickly grab and upload videos to YouTube from your phone. All you do is hit the video camera button, record your footage, then the app will upload it to your YouTube channel in the background. You can also select existing videos to upload from your SD card.

If you need to more closely manage your channel on the go, you can also now reply to and delete comments from the app.

YouTube is generally included by default within the Android operating system. However, it's well worth downloading the official app because it means you can always have the very latest version of the application.

Don't hate it because it's popular

YouTube may be the default, but it's also the best video player available.

Five Nights at Freddy's 1.85

$

A word of advice: never get a job as a night watchman. If you must, then make sure it's not at a fast food joint that houses a decommissioned animatronic animal pop group. As Five Nights at Freddy's proves, it's a career choice that will frighten the living daylights out of you.

Teddy bears picnic - on flesh

The premise of Five Nights at Freddy's - a port of a popular PC game - is that you take a temporary job as an unsuspecting security guard at a pizza restaurant chain and must make it through the night shift without getting your face eaten.

Normally of course, this wouldn't be too difficult, but Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzas isn't an ordinary restaurant. It's home to an animatronic band of furry creatures who turn evil at closing time, and like to roam around looking to eat people's brains before forcing them into a costume. It's a long way from Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar that's for sure.

When you start the game, you'll get very little information or instructions, other than a haunting recorded message from an ex-employee of Freddy's about the dangers of the job.

You sit in your office monitoring 11 security cameras that are trained on various parts of the restaurant. You need to watch out for signs of movement from any of the four animatronic characters that are apparently turned off at first. If you spot one of the eerie looking critters moving about you might want to turn one of the office lights on to check if they are on their way to munch your eyes out. If one is at the door, then press the button to slam it shut as soon as you can.

Checking cameras, turning on lights, and closing doors all drains electrical power, of which you only have a finite amount. You start the night at 12AM and must make it through to 6AM without draining the power beyond zero percent - or allowing one of the costumed creatures into the office. Each night lasts about eight to nine minutes in real time.

The first night of Five Nights at Freddy's seems easy enough, and you won't spot a lot of movement from the characters - although when you do it's very creepy to watch. As you work your way through the nights, Chica the Chicken, Bonnie the Bunny, Foxy the Pirate Fox, and the enigmatic Freddy Fazbear will become increasingly active. For some of the characters, you'll be able to work out patterns and rules for how they will act. However, Freddy - who is stored behind a curtain away from the rest - is a law unto himself and it's seemingly impossible to predict what he'll do.

Don't be scared of the dark

The trick to succeeding in Five Nights in Freddy's is not to keep turning on lights and cameras, and slamming doors shut out of fear. A lot of the time you'll need to just sit tight to conserve power, which adds to the fear factor, since you feel vulnerable to attack.

The controls are very simple. You can look left or right from your chair by tapping either side of the screen, and activate hall lights and doors using the appropriate switches. The CCTV cameras can be accessed by hitting the large button at the bottom of the screen.

Prepare to jump

The graphics in Five Nights at Freddy's are out of the ordinary yet stylish. The game combines pixelated DOS-like presentation with scary modeling of the four characters. Jump scares are excellently implemented. The way you'll know a character has made it into the office is when they suddenly pop up on the screen accompanied by a shrill shriek - cue you flying several inches out of your seat.

The sound effects in Five Nights at Freddy's help to heighten the game's edginess. From the hiss and the crackle on the cameras, to the ominous clip clop of footsteps, everything about the game's noises is designed to terrify.

Five nights of hell

Five Nights at Freddy's is one of the most terrifying Android games I've played, and if you're brave enough to try the game you're in for a tense, tummy-tingling treat. That said, if you like your horror games to have a lot of action, you're best off trying something like Dead Space or Dark Meadow, where you can actually fight back!

Google Camera 4.4 and up

Google Camera lets you to take pictures and videos with all smartphones and tablets running Android 4.4 KitKat, benefiting from advanced features including Panorama, Photo Sphere, and Focus Effect.

Three creative picture modes

Google Camera is an updated, standalone version of the camera app that's available on all Nexus and Google Play Edition devices.

The app has a camera mode with all the basic shooting features (built in HDR, grid and flash functions) and a video mode with a new feature that prompts you to move the camera into horizontal mode in order to avoid vertical video syndrome.

There are three creative picture modes available: Panorama mode makes it easy to take panoramic pictures in "high definition", Photo Sphere mode lets you take pictures with a 360 degree field of vision, and Focus Effect allows you to focus on a target and add blur to the background in order to simulate a shallow depth of field or bokeh effect.

Fully revised, streamlined use

For this first standalone version of its photo app, Google has completely revamped the camera's usability. Simplified and reorganized, it now provides access to all the camera's features from a side menu that automatically hides itself.

The shutter button has been changed and is now situated in the middle of a large black band (totally useless) at the bottom of the screen.

On-screen instructions are available to help you capture shots using the advanced modes (Photo Sphere and Focus Effect).

Unfortunately, with this update, Google Camera fails to offer many features. There's no automatic face detection, no options to adjust the white balance, no scene selection, and no option to take photos while recording video. There is also no timer, burst mode, or night mode.

An application lacking in features

The arrival of the Google Camera app is great news for Android users who don't have a Nexus or Google Play Edition device. For others, however, the camera lacks many features.

By trying to keep it simple, Google Camera has unfortunately lost a bit of its appeal. The arrival of the Photo Sphere, Focus Effect, and Panorama modes, however, are great features which alone are enough to justify installing the app.

If, like many these days, you have a "me, me, me" approach to photography then you'll enjoy this selfie app.

Look at me

B612 from LINE helps you snap selfies, allowing you to flick between more than 50 filters in 'real-time' to get a preview of your final image before you shoot.

There's a wide range of collage templates to choose from, and you can get more creative with tilt-shift and vignette effects (the latter won't work on all devices).

While B612's selfie photo taking features are rather basic, the ability to make video montages of up to nine videos and add music to it is rather cool.

Currently you can't use the rear-facing camera, but the app does tell you that this feature is on its way.

Where am I?

It's not that B612 is complicated to use, but it just doesn't feel as intuitive as other image apps. Navigation is a touch confusing; sometimes it was difficult to find my way back to certain options again. Having to press back twice to return to the previous menu didn't really help.

Average

B612 is a fun way to take selfies and the collage video feature is neat, but the app offers nothing new or innovative.

Photo Wonder is an app that lets you edit your photos and decorate them with fun motifs, stickers, and a host of other effects and elements.

Despite having many functions, it emphasizes its "Beautification" options that let you turn people into sex symbols by correcting imperfections. You can share your creations through social networks and take pictures in real time with filters.

Filters and customization

Photo Wonder is organized into four sections: Edit, Collage, Filter Camera, and Material.

Edit offers all the editing tools you can imagine, from color correction to decorative items. The edit function highlights the Beautify options, which have specialized filters and effects to let you pretty up the people in your pictures.

The Collage section lets you group two or more original images together, forming mosaics. With custom backgrounds and a selection of available templates, there are plenty of possible combinations.

Finally, you can use Filter Camera to take photos with real-time filters applied to its camera, and Material to download more items to decorate your images.

Once you are done, Photo Wonder lets you share your creation via other apps and social networks like Twitter or Facebook.

Hundreds of options

Photo Wonder is easy to use, allowing you to edit with no prior experience. Its menus are extensive but well organized, although their sheer scale can make some things hard to find.

The preview option lets you see how edits will alter your pictures in real-time. And if you do not like a change you can easily undo it.

Full featured

While some sections could still use some refinement, Photo Wonder offers an endless palette to retouch and edit your images before sharing them with your friends.

KittenTaxi is a refreshingly original and unique racing shooter game that oozes style and class.

Cats on the run

In this game, you take on the role of a cat that is on the run from the police having just robbed a bank. The aim is to shoot or blow up the pursuing police cars with the variety of weapons available in your arsenal.

Its reverse gameplay (the car drives towards you) is a nice touch and makes KittenTaxi different from all the other racing games out there.

The only negative is you can't get very far without in-app purchases - it's not just that you need them to upgrade your car and buy more weapons, but you also have to pay to keep playing.

Tough but fair

The controls in Kitten Taxi are simple: right or left tap to move across the screen and collect weapons. When I first started playing I was a bit confused about what I was supposed to be doing as the camera angle made me feel like I was viewing the game from below and couldn't quite see the whole picture. But after a few goes I picked up the idea and really started to get into it.

Kitten Taxi's gameplay is challenging enough to keep you interested, but not so tough that you get frustrated or angry.

Quirky with flair

The graphics look like they have been sketched by hand by a professional artist, with precision and flair, and a background of vivid pastel colors. The quirky and imaginative style of the game is completed by 1920s swing music in the background that are evocative of the era.

A perfect mix of style and substance

KittenTaxi is a stand-out game that mixes together unique gameplay, a strong story-based theme along with quirky and cute graphics and music. It's just as good to look at as it is to play.

Snapchat 9.9.0.0

Snapchat is the instant photo-sharing app that lets you take photos and send them to friends, who can see them for a maximum of 10 seconds before they're gone! With no way to save the photos or view them for longer than the allotted time, Snapchat is the perfect way to share quick snaps with your friends!

Now you see me, now you don't

The concept of Snapchat is really simple: you take a photo with the in-app camera, add up to 40 characters of text or use the pencil to draw in the odd mustache or devil horns, choose how long you want your friends to be able to see the photo (anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds), choose which friends you want to receive it, and hit send.

When you receive a snap, you press and hold the message to view the photo. The timer starts as soon as you click the message, and counts down on the screen even if you're not holding down to view the photo.

Snapchat includes the option to share videos, as well as Snapchat Stories, which lets your friends view photos an unlimited number of times for up to 24 hours.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, you can also dive into Snapchat's "Discover" option. A quick swipe delivers you to this feed, which allows you to explore snaps from a range of editorial angles. Skimming through these is a simple matter of swiping left, with an upward gesture opening images to learn more.

Be careful what you share

When you start Snapchat, you use your phone number as an ID and can add friends through your phone contacts or using your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

SnapChat has begun to integrate more social messaging functions. Swipe on a friend's name and you'll pull out a chat window where you can tap out messages, which then disappear when you exit the window. There is also an icon at the bottom of the home screen that shows you how many of yours buddies are currently on SnapChat. You can even press and hold the capture button to start face-to-face video chatting.

The Snapchat home screen is the camera itself. You can navigate to your notification feed and your contact list by swiping your finger left or right respectively. You can access the settings through the notifications section. It's not obvious at first, but because there are so few options, it's easy to get the hang of quickly.

Snapchat keep images secure by deleting them (within the app) immediately, but there is no way of knowing if the images are archived somewhere else. There is also the danger of inappropriate images being shared (Snapchat has gotten the reputation of being the perfect 'sexting' app). You should probably avoid sending anything personal as there are now many apps which allow you to save Snapchat photos.

A new social network?

What used to be considered a 'sexting' app is now evolving into a social network with its newest feature Snapchat Stories. Regardless, Snapchat is still a good app for sending quick photo messages to friends as a hybrid between a messaging app and a social network.

ooVoo 2.3 and up

ooVoo Video Call is a VoIP program that's already well-known on the Windows and Mac platforms. Similar to Skype, the program now runs on Android and lets you make free phone or video calls. But that's not all: ooVoo Video Call supports multi-chat video!

Multi-user video conferencing

It's easy to get started with ooVoo Video Call but you have to first create an identifier. It's quickly done and not too complicated. Once you're signed in, you can access your contact list by entering your ooVoo ID on the app's main page. You can send text messages, make a voice call or start a video conference with any of your online contacts.

You can also use ooVoo Video Call to contact offline friends via written messages, as you would with instant messaging. They receive the message basically as they would an email.

The key feature of this Android version of ooVoo is clearly the previously unexplored territory of video conferencing to more than one mobile device. You can invite several friends to a multiplayer video chat, but unfortunately you can't see them all at the same time. You pass from one to the other by clicking their avatar in the column on the right. It works fine since not everyone can talk at the same time anyway (up to 5 simultaneous users).

Average quality

The quality of the videos provided by the application are pretty average and, strangely, don't reflect the quality of your phone's camera. The sound quality is average.

ooVoo Video Call for Android allows you to add or delete contacts at your leisure, and access their profile pages containing basic information (date of birth, language, place of residence, phone number, etc.) about them. You can add a photo by taking it with your camera phone or use one you already have in memory. Change your status to reflect your availability.

Looking to the future

ooVoo for Android is a quality video conferencing app that's likely to evolve very quickly. It's also very useful for making free phone calls and sending free SMS.

Frontback 2.0.5.3

Frontback is a photo-sharing app with a twist. As an alternative to Instagram and other photo-based mobile social networks, Frontback is characterized by posting two pictures instead of one, letting you share images made from two photos using the front and back camera on your phone.

Original photographs

At its most basic level, Frontback involves taking a picture with your phone's front and back camera (hence the name), merging them into one photo which, in many cases, can result in some pretty clever or funny photos. The second camera is "triggered" automatically within a few seconds of taking the first photo, making the result more instantaneous. After creating a user account using your email or Facebook info, you can find friends, follow people, and post your own photos to Frontback. People's photos appear in a home stream, where you can like them by tapping on the heart in the center of the screen. As well as uploading images to Frontback itself, you can also post photos to Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as share them via email or SMS. You have the option to save the photo to your phone without publishing it to a social network, which is a nice additional feature.

Shoot and share

Using Frontback is really easy, with menus that are easy to navigate and a user-friendly process for taking and uploading photos to Frontback and other social networks. If you don't like the way one of the photos turned out, you can easily tap on the image and retake the photo. You also have the option of changing the camera's perspective, meaning you can take both photos using your front or back camera. To change perspective, just swipe your finger across the half of the screen you want to change. You can also change the order of the photos from top to bottom by swiping up or down across both images. Other than that, there aren't any advanced options that let you edit, import, or filter images.

Making things more exciting

Frontback is an alternative to Instagram and Tumblr which gives you a bit more room for creativity. The dynamic of having two photographs and stitching them together gives the opportunity for a lot of interesting photos.
Even further, the ability to immediately share pictures on various social networks gives more freedom and possibility for using the app in conjunction with your existing online social environments.
